KJRH-TV, the Tulsa-based Scripps NBC affiliate, badly needed a set update. So the KJRH team approached FX for a creative set remodel to their existing set – which was a somber, stuccoed design. The station team worked with FX designer Kevin Vickers to choose a combination of new and old components, and aesthetic updates including colorful backlit elements, modern finishes, and a high-tech video wall.
Vickers repurposed the entire Weather Center, making it functional for up to 3 working meteorologists, who can face the camera and converse during Tulsa’s severe weather stretches. The all new Anchor Desk and Backdrop employ frames of vibrantly colored duratrans layered with frosted Plexiglas layers to create the illusion of depth in HD. A rolling cart stacked with 2×2 NEC Ultrathin bezel LCD projector tiles doubles as an anchor backdrop and a focal point for a newly created all purpose area for reporter standups.
