Shot-by-Shot Design

FX's shot-by-shot design approach allows you to see all shots used in your broadcast, starting with one-shots.

FX Design Group’s unique shot-by-shot design approach focuses on how your set will look on camera during your broadcasts.

Often set designers place too much emphasis on how a set looks in wide, dramatic views. While these shots are impressive, they don’t give a realistic sense of what your viewers see the majority of the time — since most shots used during a typical broadcast are tightly framed.

Shot-by-Shot Design is especially important when planning for HD and 16:9 production in a world that still predominently uses 4:3 monitors.

Once your set’s design is complete, FX’s exclusive Shot By Shot Planner allows your production and news staffers to create interactive storyboards using a simple drag-and-drop interface.

FX carefully plans each shot — starting with one-shots and then working out:

The previews also include wider shots, such as anchor two-shots.

  • Opening shots and push-ins
  • Single anchor shots
  • Over-the-shoulder graphics shots
  • Two shots
  • Four shots
  • Weather, sports, standup and franchise toss shots
  • Weather, sports, standup and franchise tight shots
  • Weather, sports, standup and franchise wide shots
  • Down the line shots
  • Interview close, cross and wide shots
  • Breaking news shots
  • Closing shots

Finally, our designers can provide renderings of how your broadcasts' widest shots, such as tosses, will appear.

During the design process, FX will give you photo-realistic renderings of each shot, allowing you and your production staff to see, shot by shot, how your set will look during your broadcast and give input into the process.
